Letter to the Campus Community re: NCAA certification of Stony Brook’s Division I Athletics Program
From: George J. Meyer, Former Chair, NCAA Certification Self-Study Steering Committee, Deputy to the President, and Assistant Vice President for Presidential Initiatives
I am delighted to inform you that Stony Brook University has been informed by the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) that its Athletics Program has achieved "certified" status. Please review the attached letter from NCAA.
Thanks are due to the Self-Study Steering and Subcommittees, and the members of the University community who collaborated and worked toward this goal. Having started this process in December, 2002, we are aware that the road has been a long, but ultimately rewarding one, particularly since this is the first time that Stony Brook has participated in the self-study certification process. Congratulations to everyone involved, and to Stony Brook!
