Red Beans & Murder is a novel set in New Orleans, Louisiana and Southampton, New York. The work examines Abby Callahan's transformation from a trial lawyer who focuses on letting her insecurity guide her, to trusting in her own intuition and putting someone's well being before her own. A few days after the judge in her trial gets escorted out of the courtroom by two policemen, Darcy, the victim, disappears. Along the way, family drama and old lovers surface to distract her, but Abby must forge ahead and trust her intuition to discover why this rape case, that was meant to forward her career, seems to have murderous consequences.
