Henry, an aspiring writer, struggles with alcoholism after his friend, a well-known Mexican author, has been killed. An unreliable narrator, Henry avoids confronting his own problems by obsessing over his friend, Lucho's, legacy. This obsession leads Henry to write--first about Lucho, then as Lucho--until he can no longer reconcile his morally warped perspective with reality.
