| dcterms.abstract | At ten years old, Delta, who suffers from a particularly aggressive form of epilepsy, boards a one-way flight to Colorado with her single dad, Tom, after they hear of a life-saving medication for her illness. The medicine—cannabinoid oil—works. As Delta and Tom acclimate to their new environment and learn about the world of medical cannabis, they must overcome the fears and patterns of self-imposed isolation imprinted from the days when an epileptic attack could hit at any moment. Delta meets Reagan, another child with epilepsy, whose recklessness makes Delta question her own preconceived limitations. Without his daughter's illness to distract him, Tom learns he is rusty at making friends and has become insecure around women. Delta grows more independent and, as an adult, builds a medical cannabis massage therapy program to help those in her community. But when Delta's estranged mother returns demanding money, Delta and Tom must fight to maintain their father-daughter relationship while struggling not lose themselves to this stranger’s anger and bitterness. | |
