This video clip examines the importance of teaching the elements of media literacy in public education. The presentation pertains to the issues that most schools treat the written word as the only means of communication, yet the majority of young people spend a significant amount of time on the computer, surfing the web, watching television and playing games. George Lucas and various people in media literacy explain the importance of media literacy and how if taught in conjunction with the written word, students will evolve in their ability to analyze the various elements of media literacy, which will also enhance their communication skills.en_US
