dcterms.abstractThis book is subtitled `From China to Canada: Memories of Food and Family,` and contains sixty-one recipes written in standard cookbook style. Chapter titles include: fish and seafood; chicken and duck; beef and pork; beans and vegetables; noodles an buns and bonnets and doilies; and a selection of dad's favourite desserts. They are interspersed with the memories of the author and the black and white family photographs. The memories are of two Chinese-Canadian families living and working in British Columbia. The author's father owned and ran Wings and Lotus, two restaurants that introduced several generations of Canadian diners to Chinese fare, which the author refers to as `standards` and `modified for a tentative western palate. The book has a six page, two column index, and a two page photo index.
