dcterms.abstractThis book contains sixty-two recipes written in standard cookbook style. Chapter titles include: A Good Egg; Of Cabbage and Things; Down to the Sea; About Rice- Basic Recipe; Noodles; The Origin of Chop Suey with Recipe; Fare and Fowl; The Meat of the Matter; Story-God of the Kitchen; and Soups. Before the recipes, there is a ten page discussion about the contents of book and information on informal and formal dinners, and informal lunch, and seating arrangements. Every chapter begins with a black and white photograph. The last chapter includes information about the origins of Chop Suey, with accompanying recipe. There is a poem included after the recipes. There is a single-page with two black and white line drawings of how to use chopsticks. There are many black and white line drawings throughout the text. The book, with single chopstick in binding, was written by Air Force and Navy wives stationed in Taipei, and published for the benefit of the Yuhang Kindergarten Fund.
