The recipe chapter are titled: Appetizers; Chinese Soups; Egg Dishes; Fish and Shellfish; Pure Meat Dishes; Vegetables; Rice and Mien Dishes; Chinese Desserts; Chinese Tea; Chinese Festival Dishes. The recipes are titled in English, Chinese, and romanized Cantonese. Before the recipes, forty-two pages discuss how to cook, menu planning, dinners, table utensils, and weights and measures. Included is a fifteen-page glossary of forty-two ingredients titled in English, Chinese, and romanized Cantonese, and a pronunciation guide for their romanization. Additional information before individual chapters, and before some recipes. There are many black and white illustrations of ingredients, techniques, and equipment. The book also discusses sayings and customs, and ten festivals. There is a seven-page two-column cross-referenced index of English and romanized recipe titles. This edition has a design on cover. the illustrations are by Doreen Feng, the author.
