Before the recipes is a single page black and white photograph titled, `Presidential Mansion of Free China.` Another page, called `Xmas fare,` is for good wishes for the coming year. There is single page about the author. The two page preface, in Chinese and English, discusses cuisine in China. A two page table of contents lists recipes in page order. Some black and white line drawings appear throughout the text.
