dcterms.abstractThis book contains sixty recipes written in standard cookbook style with names of recipes in English, Chinese, and romanized Cantonese. Chapter titles include: Soups; Bird's Nests; Sharksfins; Pork; Fish and Prawns; Chicken; Duck; Eggs; Economic Small Dishes; Rice; and Ta Pin Lou. Before the recipes there is a six page introduction which includes a ten item food glossary, information on cooking utensils, methods, common ingredients such as lard and flour, ingredients for Chinese restaurant dishes, sizes of tins and bottles and how to use them, and a directory of six restaurants and places to shop in Kuala Lumpur. After the recipes there is a nine page list of cooking ingredients and restaurant dishes. Includes a five-page glossary of one hundred thirty-nine foods in English, Chinese, and romanized Cantonese, and three-page list of Chinese Restaurant dishes. A few advertisements have black and white drawings; the only other illustration is on the cover of this second revised edition.
