Recipe chapter titles include: Little Hearts, Peanuts, and Duck Feet; Celestial Soups; Feast of Color, Textures, and Tastes; Lettuce Burgers, Chinese Salads, and Exotic Greens; Imperial Fare - Peking Duck; Confections - Moon Cakes, Jeweled Pudding; and Peking Dust. Before the recipes, there are twenty-five pages that discuss: buying; seasoning and using a wok; eating; equipment; the Kitchen God; preparation tips; menus; and manners. Recipe chapters contain fanciful and valuable introductory information. The chapter at the end of the book is titled: `Scholar's Book Shelf - Notes and Comment,` and it discusses twenty other cookbooks. The index serves as dictionary and pronunciation guide, as its words are in English, Chinese, and romanized Cantonese. There are many line drawings, all by Win Ng.
