Before the recipes, there is a single page of contents, and a six page introduction about Chinese history, Taoism, food as medicine, and regional cuisine. Many recipes have full-page color photograph of their completed dish. After the recipes, there is a two page, four column glossary of forty-three foods and cooking techniques. Verso of title page indicates the book was first published by Hamlyn in 1999, and is an imprint of Octopus Publishing Group Limited, London.
