dcterms.abstract | This book has one hundred seventy-nine recipes; chapter titles include: Snacks & Starters; Soups; Fish & Seafood; Poultry; Meat; Tofu; Vegetables; Rice & Noodles; Desserts; Basics. Interspersed are one to four pages about: tea houses, banquets, Peking duck, soy sauce and products, noodles, and tea. Before the recipes, there are twelve pages about Chinese food in general and regional foods by compass point; with many color photographs illustrating them. Each recipe has full-page picture of its completed dish and other small ones in its preparation or ingredient lists; all were taken by Jason Lowe. After the recipes, there is a four page, three column glossary of foods, equipment, and alcoholic beverages. Four page, three column cross-referenced index follows as does a twenty-five item bibliography. The book subtitled: `A Journey for Food Lovers.` The last page indicates it was first published by Murdoch Books Pty Limited in 2001. | |
